Blessed Be Molly
Molly Ivins passed away yesterday; it is a huge loss for her fans and for the state of Texas. I have always said that I wanted to grow up and be just like Molly, but there could ever only be one Molly. She made us laugh through our outrage at Texas politics, and through all of the Bush administrations. She fought cancer bravely, never losing her wit, sarcasim, or bite. I found this quote on the Texas Observer website; it just seems to sum up her take on life, fame and fortune, take nothing too seriously, especially yourself....
Molly, being practical, used many of her most prestigious awards as trivets while serving exquisite French dishes at her dinner parties. Her awards include the William Allen White Award from the University of Kansas, the Eugene V. Debs award in the field of journalism, many awards for advocacy of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the David Nyhan Prize from the Shorenstein Center at the Kennedy School at Harvard.

Godspeed Molly, you will be missed.
